1 Morgat 721
Back at the castle. Spearmen edge the walls; Sir Syman of Tolfane and his retinue meet the group and tell them Prince Anaflas Milaka wishes to see them at their earliest convenience. He hands Sir Kjarri of Setara a healing flask and asks him to drink it all. The prince is standing in the forecourt, surrounded by his guards. No one else is around. The Chabla collects everyone’s horses while they go speak to the prince. After arguing with Sir Reynald Milaka for a while, the prince thanks the group for rescuing him, and offers them all a boon. Kjarri, Nina and Sir Bressen head to rest. Sir Tirn of Selvos and Maketa Seenaë Dyren go to report to the bishops; Tamarie goes to get team, planning on finding Tirn and Seenaë after she delivers it to Kjarri and Nina.
Tirn and Seenaë speak with all three bishops: Rekela Sir Tamys Bakyth, Kadris of Talanoth and Rekela Carlen Milaka, as well as the Chabla. They recount the story of the rescue of Sir Reynald. After the tale, Tirn, Seenaë and Tamarie go with the Laranian bishops to the shrine to examine the objects the Morgathian dropped. The vial is a phylactery – it will be destroyed at High Mass. The dagger is just a mundane poisoned dagger. The metal piece is a perfect divine hexagram, but its purpose is unknown. Tirn attempt psychometry on the item, and Rekela Tamys examines Seenaë’s wound. Since it was done by a religious object, he cannot heal it through prayer, and suggests keeping it clean and bandaged. The party asks the Rekelas about the Morgathian influence on the crypts below the castle, and receive a blessing.
Seenaë speaks with the Chabla and informs him that the knight of the Banner of Honor who brought a petition this morning was one of the ones planning a raid over the morning. He thanks her, and informs her that this knights and his fellows will be serving far away from the Chabla’s house for now. Seenaë goes down to the grotto to thank the saints for protecting Nina, and goes to rest.
After a rest, the party heads to the baths to freshen up. They see a man in shining armor, new boots and a fresh-dyed tabard: it is Sir Frenae (?). We chat for a while, then the bell sounds calling everyone to court.
Once the dignitaries are assembled, court is opened. Sir Reynald petitions the court, asking for the Winter Court to support bringing the petition from Sir Denyl Lynnaeus of Rethem. to the Summer Court. After much deliberation, the petition is passed. The motley fool, after giving a coin to the court for the war effort, presents a petition to the court in poetic form. He seems to tell all assembled to remember an enemy underground. Clemens of Desforia calls Tirn, Kjarri and Seenaë forward. The Chabla gives a blessing, Rekela Tamys blesses the prince, and the three take their oath. They are given a ring with the prince’s seal on it. The prince bows to them and they withdraw. The Chabla asks Sir Sinel Cassean if he wants to present his petition again. When the earl declines, the Chabla calls for the court’s end.
Clemens comes to where the three are standing, and leads them to a back room to see the prince. Sir Reynald is also present. Nina and Tamarie are also brought, and they take their oaths as well. They are given similar rings, but smaller and more discreet. Dinner is wonderful. The entertainment is a tale told by the motley fool using puppets: it is a retelling of the rescue of Sir Reynald, done in a serious manner (to everyone’s surprise). The party meets afterwards with the bishops, the prince, Sir Reynald and Master Clemens. Tirn speaks of his holy vision, and Seenaë speaks of the vision she had of Wereda Dasethyn. A discreet watch will be put on Wereda, thanks to the abilities of Dame Nayeta.
Back in the hall, the Haleans are flitting from arm to arm. Seenaë goes to spend time at the temple; as she is leaving, Sir Gressen calls her name. He expresses concern that he did not see her earlier; when he finds out where she is going, he offers to walk her to the temple, and kisses her hand as he leaves her to her vigil.
