The party shows the Nola their map, and he points out the approximate location of their home where the Ilvirians now reside. The party heads out to confront them.
As they travel along, they come across a statue of a beetle, the size of a large dog. Nina taps it with her knife and discovers it’s hollow. Sir Tirn of Selvos performs psychometry on the object while Sir Kjarri of Setara uses Sensitivity. Tirn discovers that it’s not really a statue; its a torture device: a dancing girl was encased in this just before their ship was attacked by pirates. She suffocated inside the statue. The party extracts the body and puts the remains to rest.
As the party crests a ridge, the wind rises and begins to whistle. As they continue on, the sound lowers to a moan. The party begins to search for the nola’s tree. Maketa Seenaë Dyren manages to find some worked stone; Sir Kjarri of Setara finds the trigger, and opens the doorway. The party enters: the corridor opens into a room, with walls and floors of polished stone of a strange blue sheen. There seems to be a light source beyond the corridor. A large sundial-like contrivance is in the center of the room.
Tirn examines the table and the writing on it; Kjarri notices that there are scratches on the floor. There is a wooden slatted door hatch that goes behind the table. Tirn tries to twist the dial, and finds that it can turn. The table moves and exposes the hatch, but it doesn’t open. A few more turns of the dial closes the door we came in, and another opens the hatch. It leads to a T-corridor, well-lit, with 8 visible doors. The party goes to the nearest door at the end of the hallway, and come across two women: one screams, and the other moves to defend. The party manages to talk them down and tells them of the nola’s displeasure at being evicted, and the coyote’s complaints at being evicted. They convince her to go find one of her group’s elders; she returns with an older woman who looks much more in tune with their ideas of an Ilvirian. They tell her of the complaints, but she brushes them off, saying they have a job to do. It devolves into combat. The first woman runs for help, and Nina chases her down. The woman in robes attacks, and the old woman transforms. Nina captures the runner and the party manages to defeat the other two, but not before Tamarie and Seenaë are both injured.
The party examines the other rooms. Most seem to be small unoccupied living cells. The last door leads to a small antechamber; the next door contains a large room with five people, and the eviscerated corpses of 5 coyotes. Combat is joined.
