The party manages to beat the Ilvirians, but both Sir Kjarri of Setara and Nina are seriously injured and unconscious. While Sir Tirn of Selvos ties up the injured Ilvirians, Maketa Seenaë Dyren heals up the injured party members. Tamarie and Seenaë go to get the first Ilvirian prisoner. They return and place all captives in the same room.
They then see a large coyote-like spirit who walks around the room, looks at them and walks through a wall. They examine the wall and find a secret door.
The corridor is covered in blood, and ends in a door with a strange lock. Tamarie discovers that the door isn’t locked, and they push through into a larger room with the beginning of a maze. The party makes their way through the maze, and come to a door opening into an even larger room.
In this room are some strange apparatus, columns and a dais holding a large egg and a humanoid figure which disappears promptly. Tirn asks the coyote spirit to help the party, and the man’s shadow becomes visible. They party moves in, and Tirn manages to trap him against a wall. Seenaë approaches the egg, but has to move back against the immense heat.
Nina takes the egg and, between Seena, Kjarri and Tirn they manage to subdue the mage. The coyote spirit speaks through Nina and tells the party it can enter the mind of one of the prisoners to find out their goals. It turns out that one of them is not Ilvirian at all, but is a member of the White Hand. She does not know what the Ilvirians were up to; the coyote does the same thing with the mage, and the party finds out the plan: the mage was trying to become a demigod himself and embody characteristics of various animals. The party kills him as he is too dangerous. Tirn finds the mage’s spellbook in his room, and also discovers a chest, enchanted to miniaturize the entire bedroom set. The party places the bodies of the slain Ilvirians outside; they kill the prisoners and leave them out in the open as well. They free Aldan, the White Hand mage, and she states she has her own way to reach safety.
