And the party is determined not to fail them.
18 Morgat, evening
The party decides to go find the two guards who witnessed Lady Alicia Meldon’s death. First they go to the White Gold Inn to find Cleral. One of the younger priestess in the temple of Halea leads us there, then goes upstairs to fetch him. The party gives him the basics of their case, then ask him to join them so they can partake of his luck. He agrees and they make plans to meet with him at the inn in the morning.
The party picks up Cleral, then head to the market to find Orric, the former guard turned merchant. They find him at his stall in the market, and ask him to go to the keep with them. Maketa Seenaë Dyren informs him on the way of why they have come to question him. Arriving at the keep, they find the guard Jorral and everyone heads up to the Lady’s Tower. Orric and Jorral tell the party of what they remember of Lady Alicia’s death. Using psychometry, Sir Tirn of Selvos discovers that the tower may be haunted by a child’s spirit. The party then goes down to speak with Sir Grolis Chahryn. Orric and Jorral take their leave. After hearing the party’s proposal, Sir Grolis gives them permission to summon up whatever spirits are to be found.
Returning to the tower, they run a rope through specially secured grommets to prevent any falls. Cleral also casts a protection spell around the tower. Seenaë summons the spirit; it appears as Lady Alicia clutching the hand of her daughter. However, all is not as it seems. Through questions it is discovered that a spirit of Naveh is haunting the tower: Dejecus. He was summoned by Wereda Dasethyn who is a Morgathian agent of Ferjan of Senja, who was born Polu of Alderac, in the 5th century. The party discovers there are other Morgathians who work for him, and that a murder must happen on the 21st of each month to keep Ferjou in the good graces of the dark god. The party now knows how and why the Lady Alicia and her daughter were murdered: the mother was was poisoned when the child was still in the womb, which did not kill her, but gave the baby a fragile constitution. Later, the job was completed by giving the child a poison that imitated the symptoms of brittle pox. The mother was also given a dose of poison, and it destroyed her sanity.
Dejecus informs the party that Wereda is also working for the Guram-Kahdar-Ugik-Harn, the high potentate of Morgath (on Harn). Dejecus is then banished by one of the protectors Cleral summoned, the Princess of Revenge. After thanking the Ladies for their help, the party retreats into the tower to write down what they learned.
The party makes plans to meet with Serolan Barald Palgen along with the two Belsirasans in Minter, to speak of what they learned. Once all are gathered, the story is laid out in detail. They make plans to send Palycia of Meldamar to collect Sir Poryn Meldon and Wereda while the party goes to the market with Larissa of Kephar to collect Ferjan. Seenaë uses the ritual of Soul Sight and they discover that the man is not in the market. Seenaë sees many strange things through this ritual; the Belsirasans are different: one is dressed in white, and has six glowing wings. The other looks exactly as before.
Entering Ferjan’s stall, Seenaë discovers a trail of taint leading towards the castle.
They follow the trail to the dock’s edge. Larissa mentions that the island in front of the castle had a Morgathian temple on it that was destroyed. The taint trail seems to lead there. The party searches the island, and finds a way into the subterranean areas, that have inexplicably survived destruction. They find a room with an altar, which Larissa sanctifies; they continue searching, finding empty cells and torture rooms, and corpses. They finally come to a larger torture room, with a fresher headless corpse in the corner. Then they hear the skeletons start to stir…
